The ‘Joy of Life’ takes us back to the post-war 1940s, featuring broad shouldered jackets and crisply tailored suits. There is a definite French influence throughout the range, with inspiration while researching this period derived from the life and works of Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel in particular.
This period of history would have been a time of great reflection, to appreciate those we hold close, to treasure what we each have, while also being a time of great hope, promise and dreams. This range is also designed to evoke these emotions, with investment pieces that one can appreciate today, while allowing for these styles to be treasured for years to come.
The colours of the season are berries in all of their delicious shades, from currant and blueberry to orange and cranberry. There is also a touch of honey and mustard to add further contrast, along with the winter wartime greys and blacks.
Combinations of luxurious fabrics will have you both looking and feeling fantastic, with divine wool cashmere, wool and merinos along with the cooler cottons, silks and linens. This range also sees the introduction of NZ leather and velvet adding to the forever tactile nature of the Deryn Schmidt label.
The ‘Joy of Life’ is all about a time focused on getting back your own feminine identity and embracing your freedom, along with your freedom of expression. You too can add a 'Joy of Life' to your day today!
Joie de vivre (joy of living) is a French phrase often used in English to express a cheerful enjoyment of life; an exultation of spirit.
